In September of 2004, a group of dedicated citizens and clinicians proposed the concept of a medical institute for the millions of patients in the US suffering from the disorders known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), fibromyalgia and other closely related illnesses. They were concerned by the lack of available doctors to understand and serve the growing numbers of patients with these complex chronic illnesses.

Since 2005, when the Nevada State Legislature unanimously approved a joint project between WPI, University of Nevada School of Medicine, and the Nevada Cancer Institute, our vision has grown considerably. The Center for Molecular Medicine is a state of the art translational research facility scheduled to open in 2010 on the School of Medicine campus. Meanwhile, the work of WPI is in full swing in laboratories led by Dr. Judy Mikovits and Dr. Peterson's medical offices in Incline Village, Nevada.
